Visit to Drogheda Farm

Brian Donegan, Captain of Team Connemara generously offered to "put me up" when I was in Alberta to attend the Spruce Meadows Masters Tournament. I was very excited to be able to meet people and ponies that I've talked to on the phone, & exchanged e-mails with, but never met in person. Brian found time away from his farm and occupation to ferry me around to Spruce Meadows, coach the Team, attend to all his animals, take me to visit ponies and their owners, cook some excellent meals and more! I can't thank him enough.

Brian has, on his farm, more than just ponies. I lost count of all the animals that live at Drogheda! Brian has Connemara Ponies, llamas, donkeys, dogs, kittens, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese and more!

Brian has 2 purebred stallions, Elphin Lorcan (Maplehurst Michael McDaire x Aluinne Haoinne), Inspected and Approved this fall, and Antrim Baru (Landgates Holysmoke x Bien Mallin Buttons & Bows). He has some lovely mares with interesting bloodlines, among them are Bien Mallin's Northern Lights (Windhaven 4 Star General x Bar S Heather) a small mare with fabulous movement, Ballys Fancy China, (Oscar Roundstone Donegaulle x Corrib Star, who was a Prince Phillips Pony Club mount at 27 years old, now 34). Fancy is a dark liver chestnut, very correct, and has the famous Connemara disposition. He has 3 yearling fillies, a chestnut with wonderful substance (Elphin Lorcan x Ballys Fancy China), a bay, as pretty as they come (Elphin Lorcan x Bien Mallin's Northern Lights) and a beautiful golden bay Connemara Curly cross by Antrim Baru. He has a yearling colt, light on his feet, yet a powerful mover (Elphin Lorcan x Bien Mallin's High Hopes) and a 2 year old going grey filly, with an elegant front end, and excellent bone (Maplehurst Michael McDaire x Bally's Fancy China) that is in foal to Antrim Baru.
